14.09.202606:30:00UTC+00Swiss Producer Price Slump Eases in August, Signals Softer Deflation Pressure

Switzerland’s producer price deflation moderated in August, suggesting some easing in cost pressures at the factory gate. Year-over-year, the Producer Price Index (PPI) stood at -0.7% in August 2026, compared with a sharper decline of -2.1% recorded in July 2026.

The data, updated on 14 September 2026, show that while producer prices are still below their level of a year earlier, the pace of decline has slowed. On a year-over-year basis, the “actual” August reading measures the change in prices versus August of the previous year, while the “previous” figure reflects July’s prices against July a year earlier.

The softer negative print may hint at stabilizing input costs for Swiss producers, which, if sustained, could gradually feed into consumer prices and corporate margins in the coming months. However, with PPI still in negative territory, underlying disinflationary forces remain present in the Swiss economy.
