31.07.202604:44:46UTC+00Dutch Inflation Rate Picks Up to 3.1%

The annual inflation rate in the Netherlands rose to 3.1% in July 2026, up from 2.9% in June, according to preliminary estimates. The acceleration was driven largely by higher energy prices, including motor fuels, with inflation in this category climbing to 9.7% from 6.0% in the previous month. This increase followed a renewed surge in global energy costs after the escalation of conflict in the Middle East during July.

Inflation for industrial goods excluding energy and motor fuels inched up to 0.8% from 0.7%. In contrast, price growth for services held steady at 4.1%, while inflation for food, beverages, and tobacco remained at 0%, indicating no year-on-year change in that category.

The index for consumption abroad rose 4.8% year-on-year, easing from a 5.7% increase in June. On a monthly basis, consumer prices are projected to jump 1.6% in July, following a 0.6% decline in June.

HICP-based annual inflation, which excludes owner-occupied housing costs, is estimated at 2.9% in July, up from 2.5% in the previous month.
