31.07.202607:00:00UTC+00Austria’s HICP Deflation Deepens in July, MoM Rate Slips to -0.4%

Austria’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) moved further into negative territory in July 2026, with the month-over-month rate weakening to -0.4%, compared with -0.3% in June 2026. The data, updated on 31 July 2026, signal a slight acceleration in price declines on a monthly basis.

The July reading means that, on average, consumer prices in Austria fell more sharply in July than they did in June when each month is compared with its immediate predecessor. In June 2026, the HICP had already dropped by 0.3% versus May, and the latest figure shows that this downward momentum in prices intensified somewhat in July.

The figures are presented on a month-over-month comparison basis: the “actual” July indicator measures the change from June to July 2026, while the “previous” June indicator reflects the change from May to June 2026. This back-to-back sequence of negative readings underscores a short-term deflationary trend in Austria’s harmonised consumer prices.
