Brazil’s Producer Price Index (PPI) continued to decline in June 2026, signaling a deepening deflationary trend at the factory gate level. According to the latest data updated on 31 July 2026, producer prices fell by 0.77% month-over-month, a sharper drop than the 0.30% decline recorded in May 2026.

The acceleration in producer price deflation suggests increasing cost pressures on domestic producers, who may be facing weaker demand or lower input costs that are not yet fully reflected in consumer prices. On a month-over-month basis, the June reading shows that the pace of decline in producer prices more than doubled compared with the previous month’s movement, when May’s PPI had already slipped into negative territory relative to April.

The continued negative readings in the PPI will be closely watched by market participants and policymakers for their potential implications on corporate margins, pricing power, and the broader inflation outlook. With two consecutive months of falling producer prices, attention may turn to whether this trend persists and starts to weigh more visibly on headline inflation and monetary policy expectations in the months ahead.
